Aamir Khan Reveals Dark Phase: ‘Drank Almost a Bottle Every Night’ After Split With Reena Dutta

Aamir Khan Opens Up About Battling Alcohol After Separation From Reena Dutta

Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan recently opened up about one of the most difficult phases of his personal life, revealing how his separation from Reena Dutta led him to turn to alcohol as a coping mechanism.

A Painful Phase After Separation

In a candid conversation on Duologue with Barun Das, Aamir spoke about the emotional turmoil he experienced after his divorce. He revealed that he was a complete teetotaller before the separation and had never relied on alcohol in his life.

Recalling the moment his family left, Aamir shared that he found himself alone at home, unable to process the overwhelming emotions. That night marked a turning point, as he began drinking alcohol that was originally kept for guests.

“Almost a Bottle a Night”

What started as a one-time attempt to cope soon turned into a prolonged habit. Aamir admitted that for nearly one and a half years, he consumed almost a full bottle of alcohol every night.

He described the shift as “extreme,” going from someone who barely drank to someone heavily dependent on alcohol during that difficult period.

Personal Life and Relationships

Aamir Khan married Reena Dutta in 1986, and the couple separated in 2002. They have two children together  Junaid Khan and Ira Khan.

Later, Aamir married Kiran Rao in 2005, and they welcomed their son, Azad Rao Khan. The couple announced their separation in 2021 but continue to share an amicable relationship.

Recently, on his 60th birthday, Aamir introduced his partner, Gauri Spratt, and the two have since been spotted together at various events.

Professional Front

On the work front, Aamir made his return to the big screen with Sitaare Zameen Par following the setback of Laal Singh Chaddha in 2022. He also appeared in a cameo in Happy Patel: Khatarnak Jasoos.

He is now gearing up for the release of Ek Din, a romantic drama produced by him and directed by Sunil Pandey. The film stars Junaid Khan alongside Sai Pallavi.
