Alpha Day 6 Advance Booking: Sees Expected Dip After Cinema Day Surge; Sells 8,417 Tickets in National Chains
After benefiting from a massive boost on Cinema Day, Alpha has witnessed an expected correction in advance bookings for Day 6 (Wednesday) as ticket prices returned to normal across theatres. The Alia Bhatt and Sharvari-led spy action thriller has naturally seen admissions slow down after Tuesday's discounted pricing surge.
As per the latest tracking, Alpha has sold 8,417 tickets across PVR INOX and Cinepolis till 10:30 PM for its sixth day. While the numbers are considerably lower than Cinema Day, the decline comes on expected lines and does not come as a surprise to the trade.
The sharp dip is largely attributed to the end of the Cinema Day offer, which had significantly boosted admissions across the country. With regular ticket prices back in effect, weekday footfalls have normalized, resulting in a more realistic picture of the film's current theatrical demand.
Despite the correction, metro cities continue to remain the film's strongest markets. Mumbai, Delhi-NCR, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Pune, and Chennai are still contributing the bulk of the business, with premium multiplexes maintaining relatively better occupancy than other regions.
The South Indian territories have also continued to support the film, particularly in Hyderabad and Bengaluru, where the film has consistently performed above expectations since release. Meanwhile, Tier 2 and Tier 3 centres remain comparatively softer, with business largely concentrated in urban multiplexes.
The next two days will now be crucial for Alpha as the film looks to stabilize before entering its second weekend. Positive word-of-mouth and weekend growth will play a significant role in determining how well the film sustains its theatrical run going forward.
