Alpha Jumps on Day 2 With 12 to 14 Percent Occupancy, Eyes 13 Crore Plus

Alpha has shown a healthy jump on its second day as Saturday morning shows recorded occupancy in the range of 12 to 14 percent across major markets. The spy actioner, which opened to 9 crore on Friday, is benefiting from stronger spot bookings and improved footfalls in multiplexes. The rise in numbers indicates that audience interest has picked up after initial word of mouth spread.

The film is now headed for a solid Saturday total. Trade estimates suggest Alpha will collect 13 crore plus today, depending on how much further growth comes in evening and night shows. Urban centers and National Chains are leading the charge, while mass circuits are also seeing better turnout compared to day one. This growth was much needed to give the film momentum heading into Sunday.

The improved occupancy is a good sign for a big budget action film that needs strong weekend numbers to cover its costs. After a decent but modest start, Alpha needed this push to stay competitive against new releases and hold screens for week two. If the trend continues through the evening, the film can comfortably surpass a 22 to 23 crore opening weekend total.

Sunday will now be the final big test for Alpha. A similar or higher jump is required to cement its position and set up a respectable lifetime run. For now, the 12 to 14 percent start on day 2 and the projection of 13 crore plus give the film the boost it was looking for. All eyes are on evening shows to see if Alpha can carry this momentum into a strong weekend finish.
