Controversy Surrounds, The Kerala Story 2: Goes Beyond" as CBFC Demands Cuts
The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has asked for 15 cuts and modifications in the upcoming film "The Kerala Story 2: Goes Beyond", including reducing kiss and rape visuals by 50%. The film, produced by Vipul Shah and directed by Kamakhya Narayan Singh, is set to release on February 27 and has already sparked controversy on social media due to its content.
The CBFC's demands include shortening a lip-lock scene by 7 seconds and reducing rape scene visuals by 20 seconds. Additionally, two scenes depicting violence against women have been shortened, and three dialogues have been modified. The board has also asked for a disclaimer stating that the film is based on true events.
The film's release has been met with criticism from Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, who has accused it of spreading "false propaganda" and fueling communal divisions. A petition has been filed in the Kerala High Court seeking to revoke the film's censor certificate, alleging that it portrays Kerala in a negative light and incites communal disharmony.
Despite the controversy, the film has received a U/A 16+ certificate from the CBFC. The makers have welcomed the certification, stating that it allows younger audiences to watch the film. The film stars Ulka Gupta, Aditi Bhatia, and Aishwarya Ojha in leading roles and is expected to release in cinemas on February.
