Dacoit North America box office update: showing a drop on Sunday, but the weekend collection is still good.

Adivi Sesh’s Dacoit wrapped up its first weekend in North America with a Sunday gross of $98K, taking the total to $904K. The romantic action thriller saw a huge drop on Sunday compared to its strong opening day, but the weekend haul remains solid thanks to the momentum from Day 1 collections and premieres.

The $98K Sunday is a sharp fall from the $725K Day 1 that included premieres. The drop indicates that the film was heavily frontloaded, with most of the business coming from Adivi Sesh’s core fanbase and initial curiosity around the Mrunal Thakur pairing. Sunday trends for Telugu films overseas are often soft without strong word-of-mouth, and Dacoit seems to be following that pattern. Still, a sub-$100K Sunday isn’t uncommon for mid-range films once the opening rush settles.

Despite the steep Sunday drop, the overall weekend collection of $904K is a good result. The Day 1 number did most of the heavy lifting, pushing the film close to the $1M mark in just its first 3-4 days. For a non-franchise Telugu title, crossing $900K in the opening weekend is a win and already makes Dacoit one of the biggest North America openers for Adivi Sesh. Distributors will be relieved, as the strong start covers a major portion of recovery.

At $904K total, Dacoit is now just $96K away from the $1M milestone in North America. Weekday holds from Monday will be key to getting there. Directed by Shaneil Deo, the film has limited Telugu competition this week, which could help it leg out. While the huge Sunday drop caps momentum, the weekend itself is good and the Day 1 collections have set the film up for a respectable final run.
