Dhurandhar 2 Update: Aditya Dhar Begins Trailer Cut; No Additional Shoot for Akshaye Khanna
Work on Dhurandhar 2, the highly anticipated sequel to Aditya Dhar’s blockbuster Dhurandhar, is officially gaining momentum behind the scenes. As anticipation builds, new details have emerged regarding the film’s post-production progress and cast involvement.
Contrary to circulating reports suggesting that Akshaye Khanna has returned to set for additional filming, Pinkvilla has exclusively clarified that no extra shoot is currently underway for the actor. While Akshaye remains an integral part of Dhurandhar 2, his role is limited to select flashback sequences that were completed during the film’s earlier shooting schedules.
A source close to the production confirmed, “There is no additional filming happening with Akshaye Khanna at the moment. His portions were wrapped earlier and will appear in key flashback moments within the narrative.” This clarification effectively puts an end to ongoing speculation.
Meanwhile, the sequel has entered a crucial phase of post-production. Director Aditya Dhar is presently focused on cutting the film’s trailer, with the makers targeting a late February release. According to insiders, the intent is to deliver a trailer that matches or surpasses the impact of the first film’s promotional material.
Adding to the momentum, Shashwat Sachdev has begun work on the film’s background score, with sound and visuals being treated as top priorities. The team is leaving no stone unturned as they prepare Dhurandhar 2 for its planned March 19 theatrical release.
The original Dhurandhar, starring Ranveer Singh, emerged as one of the biggest box office successes of 2025, delivering an extraordinary run and earning the tag of a modern-day juggernaut. Its unprecedented success has significantly raised expectations for the sequel.
Backed by Jio Studios and B62 Studios, Dhurandhar 2 is produced by Jyoti Deshpande, Aditya Dhar, and Lokesh Dhar. The franchise boasts an ensemble cast including Ranveer Singh, Akshaye Khanna, Sanjay Dutt, R. Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, Rakesh Bedi, among others.
With post-production now in full swing and a trailer launch on the horizon, Dhurandhar 2 is shaping up to be one of the most awaited theatrical releases of 2026.
