Drishyam: The Conclusion May Not Be The End! Ajay Devgn’s Franchise Could Continue With A New Story

Drishyam: The Conclusion may be arriving as the final chapter of Vijay Salgaonkar’s current story, but the Drishyam franchise itself could have another chapter waiting beyond it.

According to a report by Mid-Day, the makers are considering taking the Ajay Devgn-led franchise forward with an entirely different story, even as the upcoming third instalment brings the existing Vijay Salgaonkar saga to its conclusion. The report states that Ajay Devgn, producer Kumar Mangat Pathak and director Abhishek Pathak are discussing the possibility of continuing the franchise in a new direction.

Drishyam: The Conclusion To End Vijay Salgaonkar’s Story

When the makers announced the title Drishyam: The Conclusion, it immediately suggested that Vijay Salgaonkar's long-running battle with the law was finally heading towards its ultimate end.

Ajay Devgn is returning as Vijay, the ordinary cable operator-turned-master strategist who has repeatedly managed to stay ahead of the police while protecting his family.

After two films packed with deception, carefully constructed alibis and unforgettable twists, the third instalment is expected to finally bring this particular story to its decisive conclusion.

The film is scheduled to arrive in cinemas on October 2, 2026.

But Is This Really The End Of Drishyam?

This is where the latest report makes things particularly interesting.

While Vijay Salgaonkar's story may conclude with Drishyam: The Conclusion, the makers apparently don't want to shut the door on the franchise altogether.

As reported by Mid-Day, discussions are underway about taking the franchise forward with a completely different story. The idea would allow the makers to retain the Drishyam identity while moving away from the existing narrative surrounding Vijay and his family.

That means The Conclusion could potentially be the end of Vijay's chapter, rather than the end of the Drishyam universe.

Ajay Devgn’s Vijay Salgaonkar Has Become Iconic

The biggest challenge, of course, would be finding a way to continue the franchise without simply repeating what has already worked.

Vijay Salgaonkar has become one of the most recognisable thriller protagonists in contemporary Hindi cinema. His strength was never physical power. It was his ability to think several moves ahead of the investigators.

A simple man with a love for cinema, Vijay famously used his knowledge of films and storytelling to construct an elaborate cover story for his family. What began as an attempt to protect his loved ones eventually turned into a battle of wits against the entire police machinery.

That unique combination of family emotion, crime, suspense and clever deception is what turned Drishyam into a major Hindi franchise.

The Meera Deshmukh Connection

A major part of the franchise's tension has also come from Tabu's IG Meera Deshmukh, whose determination to uncover the truth has repeatedly brought Vijay under pressure.

Their cat-and-mouse relationship became one of the defining elements of the first two films.

Drishyam: The Conclusion is now expected to push that conflict towards its final destination, with Tabu returning alongside Ajay Devgn. Shriya Saran and Rajat Kapoor are also returning, while Prakash Raj and Jaideep Ahlawat join the cast in new roles.

Drishyam 3 Cast Brings New Faces Into The Final Chapter

The upcoming film is directed by Abhishek Pathak, who returns after helming Drishyam 2.

The cast includes:

  • Ajay Devgn as Vijay Salgaonkar
  • Tabu as IG Meera Deshmukh
  • Shriya Saran as Nandini Salgaonkar
  • Rajat Kapoor
  • Prakash Raj
  • Jaideep Ahlawat

The addition of Prakash Raj and Jaideep Ahlawat is particularly intriguing because both actors bring considerable intensity to a thriller environment.

A Franchise That Has Already Proven Its Theatrical Power

The Hindi Drishyam franchise has developed into a major theatrical property.

The first film, released in 2015, established Vijay Salgaonkar and his family, while Drishyam 2 expanded the story and delivered a much larger box-office run.

Now, Drishyam: The Conclusion carries the responsibility of giving audiences a satisfying payoff to a story that has been building for years.

The October 2 release also gives the film a major holiday advantage, arriving around Gandhi Jayanti and the long weekend.

The Big Question: What Happens After Vijay?

If the reported plans materialise, this could be an interesting way to keep the franchise alive.

Instead of forcing another chapter into Vijay Salgaonkar's story after its natural conclusion, the makers could introduce a completely new case, new characters and a new mystery, while retaining the core Drishyam DNA.

That could allow the franchise to evolve rather than simply repeat itself.

The real test, however, will be whether audiences accept a Drishyam film without Vijay's familiar story at its centre.

Drishyam: The Conclusion The Beginning Of The End?

For now, Drishyam: The Conclusion remains firmly positioned as the final chapter of Vijay Salgaonkar's story.

But if the latest report is anything to go by, the makers may already be looking beyond that ending.

And perhaps that is the biggest twist of all.

Vijay Salgaonkar's story may end on October 2. But Drishyam itself might not.

Drishyam: The Conclusion releases in cinemas on October 2, 2026.
