EXCLUSIVE: Don 3 Indefinitely Pushed as Ranveer Singh Shifts Focus After Dhurandhar’s Historic Success
The unprecedented success of Dhurandhar has put Ranveer Singh firmly at the centre of Bollywood’s current box office narrative and it is now reshaping his upcoming career choices as well.
According to an exclusive report by Pinkvilla, Don 3, the much-anticipated third installment of Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani’s iconic franchise, has been indefinitely pushed, with Ranveer Singh stepping away from the project to prioritise other films.
Dhurandhar’s Mega Run Changes the Game
Directed by Aditya Dhar, Dhurandhar continues its unstoppable march at the box office and is steadily closing in on the ₹600 crore nett mark, a milestone expected to be achieved by Thursday. With the New Year holiday period driving strong footfalls, trade estimates suggest that the film’s fourth week could be massive, potentially pushing the final tally close to ₹700 crore nett.
Amid this historic run, Ranveer Singh has reportedly reassessed his immediate slate.
Why Ranveer Singh Walked Away from Don 3
As per Pinkvilla’s sources, Ranveer is now being extremely selective about his next moves. A source close to the development revealed that the actor is keen to collaborate with filmmakers such as Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Lokesh Kanagaraj, and Atlee, while consciously avoiding back-to-back gangster-centric roles.
With Dhurandhar already defining his presence in the gangster-action space, Ranveer reportedly did not want to repeat a similar on-screen image so soon a key reason behind his decision to exit Don 3.
Fast-Tracking ‘Pralay’
Instead, Ranveer is said to be accelerating work on Pralay, tentatively titled and backed by Applause Entertainment. Directed by Jai Mehta, the film is a zombie-based survival drama that focuses on a deeply emotional human story exploring how far a man is willing to go to protect his family under extreme circumstances.
Sources indicate that Ranveer is now personally involved in aligning dates and schedules to ensure Pralay moves to the floors sooner than originally planned.
What’s Next for Don 3?
Meanwhile, the Don 3 team is moving ahead without delay. An insider confirms that the makers have already begun scouting for a new actor to step into the iconic role of Don, with the intention of taking the film on floors by January 2026.
The film already has Kriti Sanon locked as the female lead and is planned as a large-scale action thriller, with extensive shooting schedules across multiple European locations.
The Big Question: Who Will Be the Next Don?
With Ranveer Singh stepping away, the big question now is who has the screen presence, charisma, and gravitas to take forward the legacy of Don? Given the franchise’s scale and expectations, the casting decision will be critical and closely watched by fans and trade alike.
For now, Don 3 remains in a state of transition while Ranveer Singh rides the Dhurandhar wave and charts his next ambitious moves.
