EXCLUSIVE: Paresh Rawal Reacts to Drishyam 3 Casting Rumours — “Not true. The makers did approach me… the script is VERY good.”
The buzz around Drishyam 3 has been growing ever since the blockbuster success of Drishyam 2 (2022). As fans eagerly await the next chapter of the thrilling franchise, reports recently surfaced suggesting that Paresh Rawal had joined the cast. However, the veteran actor has now set the record straight.
In an exclusive conversation with Bollywood Hungama, Paresh Rawal clarified that while he was approached by the makers of Drishyam 3, he has not signed the film.
“No, I have not. There’s no truth to these reports at all,” Rawal said, dismissing the rumours.
When asked whether the makers did indeed offer him a role, he confirmed,
“Yes, the makers did approach me. But I didn’t feel that the role was suitable for me. Maza nahin aaya (I didn’t find the part exciting enough).”
Despite turning it down, Paresh Rawal had words of appreciation for the upcoming film’s screenplay.
“The script is very good. I was really impressed. But even in a compelling script, you need a role that excites you warna maza nahin aayega,” he added.
Drishyam 3: The Next Chapter in a Cult Franchise
The Drishyam series has become one of Indian cinema’s most gripping thrillers. The first film (Drishyam, 2015) was a major box-office success and achieved cult status over time. Its sequel (Drishyam 2) shocked the trade with its phenomenal opening and went on to become a blockbuster.
Now, Drishyam 3 directed by Abhishek Pathak and starring Ajay Devgn as Vijay Salgaonkar is all set for a theatrical release on October 2, 2026. With the storyline expected to tie together threads from both previous films, anticipation is sky-high.
Paresh Rawal’s Recent Work
Paresh Rawal was last seen in Thamma, where his portrayal of a father dealing with his son’s strange “punching machine-type teeth” earned praise for its quirky humor and emotional depth. When asked about the film’s reception, the actor said with a smile,
“Yes, I heard it is doing well,” adding that he is currently in Ahmedabad and hasn’t yet watched it himself.
About the Drishyam Universe
Drishyam follows the story of Vijay Salgaonkar, a man who goes to extreme lengths to protect his family after a tragic incident involving his wife and daughter. The sequel carried forward the tense cat-and-mouse dynamic between Vijay and the police, led by the late Tabu’s character’s family.
With Drishyam 3 now in the works, fans can expect another intense psychological thriller that wraps up the saga in style even if Paresh Rawal won’t be a part of it.
