Golmaal 5 Release Date: Ajay Devgn and Rohit Shetty’s Comedy Franchise Returns on January 8, 2027

Rohit Shetty’s Golmaal 5 is officially set to arrive in cinemas on January 8, 2027, bringing Ajay Devgn and the much-loved Golmaal gang back to the big screen. The fifth instalment will also feature Akshay Kumar in an extended guest appearance.

The wait for the next chapter of the Golmaal franchise is finally over. Rohit Shetty has officially announced the theatrical release date of Golmaal 5, confirming that the comedy entertainer will hit cinemas on January 8, 2027. The announcement came with a new motion poster featuring Ajay Devgn and several returning members of the franchise.

The upcoming film marks the return of Ajay Devgn as Gopal, along with franchise regulars Arshad Warsi, Kunal Kemmu, Shreyas Talpade and Tusshar Kapoor. Sharman Joshi is also returning to the franchise after featuring in the original Golmaal: Fun Unlimited in 2006.

Akshay Kumar Set For An Extended Guest Appearance

One of the major talking points around Golmaal 5 is the addition of Akshay Kumar to the franchise. While the actor is absent from the newly released poster, he is part of the film and is expected to make an extended guest appearance.

Rohit Shetty had confirmed Akshay Kumar’s casting earlier in 2026. Cineinfinity also reported that there had been speculation around the nature of his character, with reports suggesting that he could be seen in an antagonist role. However, the makers have not officially detailed his character arc.

His extended appearance adds another layer to the ensemble cast, while the core narrative continues to revolve around Ajay Devgn and the familiar Golmaal gang.

Golmaal 5 Brings Back The Original Madness

The Golmaal franchise began in 2006 with Golmaal: Fun Unlimited and was followed by Golmaal Returns in 2008, Golmaal 3 in 2010 and Golmaal Again in 2017. The fifth instalment arrives nearly a decade after the last film.

The new film also arrives in a significant year for the franchise, as Golmaal completes 20 years in 2026. Rohit Shetty has previously reflected on the franchise's journey and its long association with audiences.

For Golmaal 5, the filmmaker is once again bringing together the combination that has defined the series Ajay Devgn, the familiar supporting cast, situational comedy and a larger ensemble.

Production Underway

Golmaal 5 has been filming through 2026, with the production beginning with a schedule in Ooty in April. According to Cineinfinity, the film had completed its dialogue portions by August, with two songs, including the title track, still scheduled to be shot at that stage.

Rohit Shetty announced the release date through a motion poster featuring the cast packed together on the franchise's trademark stretched motorcycle. The announcement carried the message: “Laughter, Fun, Joy, Happiness and Family... Bas, Nothing Else.”

With the release date now locked, January 8, 2027 marks the beginning of the next chapter for one of Bollywood's longest-running comedy franchises.
