Kill 2 Confirmed With Lakshya Returning, Nikhil Nagesh Bhat Exits Due To Sunny Deol Film

Kill 2 is officially moving ahead, with Lakshya set to reprise his lead role. The sequel to 2024’s hyper-violent breakout was greenlit after the original earned cult status for its relentless action and body count. Considered Bollywood’s most brutal mainstream film, Kill turned Lakshya into an action star overnight. The follow-up will aim to expand that universe while raising the violence quotient.

According to Variet Indi  Director Nikhil Nagesh Bhat will not return for the second chapter. The filmmaker who crafted the original’s claustrophobic train carnage is now tied up with his next project headlined by Sunny Deol. Both films have overlapping production timelines, making it impossible for Bhat to helm Kill 2. His exit is scheduling-driven, not creative. The producers confirmed Bhat’s blessings for the sequel and plan to retain the tone he established.

The search is on for a new director to take charge of Kill 2. Producers are talking to multiple action specialists who can match the first film’s intensity and inventive set pieces. No name has been locked yet, but the mandate is clear: keep the R-rated DNA intact. With Lakshya already training for the sequel, the team wants to begin filming once a director is finalized. The script is being developed to justify the franchise tag beyond a one-off bloodbath.

Kill changed the rules for Hindi action cinema with its no-holds-barred approach and global festival buzz. Expectations for Kill 2 are sky-high, even without Bhat at the helm. Lakshya’s return ensures continuity, but the new director will face pressure to deliver the same shock value and tight pacing. If the producers land the right filmmaker, the sequel could cement Kill as Bollywood’s first true hardcore action franchise.
