Palash Muchhal Accused of Cheating Sangli Actor-Producer of ₹40 Lakh; Police Launch Probe
A fresh controversy has surfaced around composer-filmmaker Palash Muchhal, with a Sangli resident accusing him of cheating to the tune of ₹40 lakh.
According to police officials, Vidnyan Mane (34), an actor and producer from Maharashtra’s Sangli district, has submitted an application seeking the registration of an FIR against Muchhal. As of now, no FIR has been registered, and the matter is under preliminary inquiry.
As per the complaint, Muchhal met Mane in Sangli on December 5, 2023. During the meeting, Muchhal allegedly pitched his upcoming film Nazaria, inviting Mane to come on board as a producer. He reportedly assured Mane that an investment of ₹25 lakh would fetch him a ₹12 lakh profit post OTT release, and also promised him a role in the film.
The complaint states that the two met multiple times thereafter, and Mane allegedly paid ₹40 lakh in total to Muchhal by March 2025. However, the project was allegedly never completed. When Mane later demanded his money back, he reportedly received no response, prompting him to approach the police.
Police officials confirmed that a preliminary probe is underway to verify the claims.
Notably, this development comes amid reports of turbulence in Muchhal’s personal life as well, with his much-talked-about marriage plans with Indian cricketer **Smriti Mandhana reportedly being shelved earlier. While unrelated, the timing has only added to the spotlight on the composer.
Further action will depend on the findings of the police inquiry.
