Raja Shivaji Box Office Day 1 Advance Booking Update Huge Marathi Response With 14 K Tickets Sold till 3 PM !
Raja Shivaji is already showing strong momentum at the ticket windows well before its release and the early trends clearly indicate that the film is gearing up for a powerful start, especially in Maharashtra. Led by Riteish Deshmukh, the historical action drama is arriving in cinemas on May 1 and the partial holiday advantage is further boosting its prospects at the box office.
Advance booking for the film opened recently and within a short span, the response has turned quite encouraging. As of the latest update till 3 pm, the film has sold around 14021 thousand tickets for its opening day across India, excluding blocked seats. What stands out in this early trend is the dominance of the Marathi version, which alone has contributed more than 13.5 thousand tickets. The Hindi version has seen limited traction so far with around 521 tickets sold, which was expected considering the film’s core appeal lies in Maharashtra.
In terms of collections, Raja Shivaji has grossed approximately 36 lakh so far for day 1, translating to around 30 lakh in net collections. Out of this, the Marathi version is driving almost the entire business with over 29 lakh net already secured through advance sales. This clearly reflects strong regional interest and the emotional connect of the subject with the local audience.
Talking about showcasing, the film has locked close to 850 shows across the country at this stage. A major chunk of these shows, more than 770, are concentrated in Maharashtra, indicating a wide and aggressive release in its primary market. Outside Maharashtra, the film is expected to have a controlled but decent presence. The average ticket price is currently trending around 235 rupees, which is on the higher side for a Marathi film and further highlights the strong demand.
What makes this trend even more interesting is the pace at which the bookings are moving. Marathi films traditionally rely heavily on word of mouth and tend to grow after release. However, Raja Shivaji is showing urgency right from the advance booking phase itself. This kind of pre release traction is rare for the industry and signals that the film could open to record breaking numbers for a Marathi release.
The combination of a powerful subject, Riteish Deshmukh’s growing credibility as a filmmaker after Ved, and the scale of the project is working in the film’s favor. If the current momentum continues over the next three days, Raja Shivaji is well on track to register one of the biggest openings ever for a Marathi film, with strong potential to surprise even beyond expectations.
The film also features an impressive ensemble cast including Sanjay Dutt, Abhishek Bachchan, Vidya Balan, Mahesh Manjrekar and Genelia Deshmukh, adding further weight to its theatrical appeal. Backed by Mumbai Film Company and Jio Studios, Raja Shivaji is positioned as a major big screen spectacle and the early box office signals are already reflecting that scale.
