The makers of Ramayana, one of the most anticipated films of 2026, have announced that the first look of Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram will be unveiled on Hanuman Jayanti.
Producer Namit Malhotra shared the update on social media on the occasion of Ram Navami, along with a note reflecting on the scale and vision behind the project.
A global cinematic vision
Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, Ramayana is being envisioned as a large-scale cinematic spectacle mounted at a global level. The two-part epic aims to blend cutting-edge technology with immersive storytelling to present a visually rich and emotionally engaging retelling of the ancient Indian epic.
Set thousands of years ago and revered across generations, the story of Ramayana continues to hold deep cultural significance. The makers are positioning the upcoming reveal not just as a film update, but as a global celebration of the character of Lord Ram.
Massive scale and star-studded cast
The film features Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram, alongside Sai Pallavi as Sita, Yash as Ravana, Sunny Deol as Hanuman, and Ravi Dubey as Lakshman.
Earlier, the film generated significant buzz with its first-look announcement campaign, including a multi-city launch in India and a prominent showcase at Times Square, underlining its global ambition.

Ramayana is being produced by Prime Focus Studios in association with DNEG, an eight-time Academy Award-winning visual effects studio, and Monster Mind Creations.
The film is slated for a worldwide IMAX release, with Part 1 scheduled to hit theatres during Diwali 2026, followed by Part 2 in Diwali 2027.
