Ranbir Kapoor Teases His Darkest Return Yet with Animal Park

Ranbir Kapoor has finally opened up about Animal Park, the much-awaited sequel to Animal (2023), and fans have plenty to be excited about. The actor shared fresh updates during a virtual press meet held ahead of Animal’s release in Japan on February 13.

Reuniting with director Sandeep Reddy Vanga, Ranbir spoke about stepping back into the intense world of Animal, where he will once again portray Rannvijay along with his cousin Aziz in a challenging dual role. Expressing his excitement, Ranbir said that he and Vanga are constantly exchanging ideas about the sequel.

“I can’t wait to get back on set with Sandeep and play these characters. We keep chatting every week or month, discussing different ideas,” he shared.

Sandeep Reddy Vanga, who is currently busy directing Spirit, confirmed that Animal Park is expected to go on floors by mid-2027.

For Ranbir Kapoor, Animal has clearly become a landmark film in his career right alongside cult classics like Rockstar (2011) and Barfi! (2012). The actor admitted that taking on the role of Rannvijay was intimidating at first, especially given his earlier image.

“Before this, I was mostly doing lover-boy or coming-of-age roles. When Sandeep narrated Animal to me, I found the character extremely scary to approach as an actor. But his confidence in me made me believe I could pull it off,” Ranbir said.

The conversation also turned emotional when Ranbir spoke about his deep connection with Japan, a country closely linked to his legendary grandfather, Raj Kapoor.

“I feel a strong bond with Japan. One of my grandfather’s most popular songs worldwide is ‘Mera Joota Hai Japani’,” he said, adding that he now dreams of visiting the country with his daughter, Raha.
“I can’t wait to show Japan to her.”

With Animal gearing up for its Japanese release and Animal Park slowly taking shape, Ranbir Kapoor’s journey with Sandeep Reddy Vanga seems far from over and fans are eagerly watching what comes next.
