Ranveer Singh Turban Smoking Image Row: Aditya Dhar Calls Viral Pics ‘Fake’, Warns of Action

Aditya Dhar has firmly denied viral images showing Ranveer Singh smoking while wearing a turban in Dhurandhar: The Revenge, calling them “completely untrue” and fabricated.

According to a report by Press Trust of India, the filmmaker stated that the visuals being circulated online are morphed using artificial intelligence and do not belong to any official material from the film.

“Completely Fabricated”

Dhar issued a strong statement addressing the controversy:

“Certain individuals are circulating manipulated visuals by morphing officially released material… One such image falsely depicts the character smoking while wearing a turban. This is completely untrue.”

He added that such acts are deliberate attempts to mislead audiences and create unnecessary controversy, warning that strict action will be taken against those responsible.

Respect for Sikh Community

The director also highlighted that the film maintains full sensitivity and respect toward the Sikh community.

“I hold the highest respect for the Sikh community… every portrayal has been handled with dignity and responsibility.”

He urged audiences to rely only on official content and not fall prey to AI-generated misinformation being spread with ulterior motives.

Controversy & Clarifications

The issue surfaced after objections were raised by a Mumbai-based Sikh organisation, along with a police complaint reportedly being filed over the viral visuals.

Actor R. Madhavan also addressed concerns around another scene, clarifying that his character does not smoke while reciting religious verses, as the cigarette is put out beforehand.

Despite the controversy, Dhurandhar: The Revenge continues its phenomenal box office run, crossing ₹900 crore globally. The film serves as a sequel to Dhurandhar and explores the rise of Ranveer Singh’s character in a gripping espionage drama.
