Ranveer Singh vs Excel Entertainment: ₹40 Crore Dispute Over Don 3 Exit
Ranveer Singh's decision to exit Don 3 has sparked a major financial dispute with Excel Entertainment, with the production house claiming the actor's departure has caused losses worth ₹40 crore. The disagreement stems from Excel's claim that Singh's exit led to significant financial losses, including sunk development costs and delays tied to scheduling, planning, and associated commitments.
Ranveer Singh, however, is pushing back, stating he left the project due to creative differences, specifically citing dissatisfaction with the script. He reportedly asked for changes, but wasn't happy with the final draft. Excel Entertainment counters that they proceeded with pre-production only after Singh approved the script.
A two-hour meeting between Singh and Excel representatives failed to resolve the issue, with both sides disputing accountability and financial responsibility. The Producers Guild of India (PGI) has stepped in to mediate, aiming to prevent further escalation.
The dispute raises questions about the future of Don 3, a high-profile project with a storied franchise history, previously featuring Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan. With tensions rising, it's unclear whether the project will proceed with a new lead or face delays.
