Salman Khan Redefines On-Set Hospitality: Being Haangry Vans Now Serve Free Fresh Meals to Entire Film Crew
During the nationwide lockdown in 2020, Salman Khan introduced the concept of Being Haangry a food truck initiative aimed at delivering ration kits to underprivileged communities and cooked meals to frontline workers. What began as a pandemic relief effort has now evolved into a full-fledged, long-term service initiative on film sets.
According to a detailed report by Mid-Day, Salman Khan has upgraded two Being Haangry vans into fully operational mobile kitchens, now actively serving fresh, wholesome meals on the sets of his upcoming film Battle of Galwan. What makes this initiative stand out is that the meals are provided free of cost to the entire unit, including actors, technicians, support staff, and crew members.
Addressing Inequality on Sets
Film sets often maintain separate meal systems one each for actors, departmental heads, and unit workers. Sources close to the actor state that Salman had long felt uncomfortable with this hierarchy. Known for bringing packed food from home and sharing it generously with his team, the star eventually decided to eliminate this disparity altogether.
As per insiders, the initiative was first implemented earlier this year during the shoot of Sikandar. Since then, at least one Being Haangry van has been stationed daily at the film location, offering uniform access to freshly prepared food.
“There shouldn’t be a difference in the food based on one’s role. Everyone working on set deserves the same respect and nourishment,” a source reportedly shared.

Fully Equipped Kitchen on Wheels
The redesigned vans feature a built-in kitchen and cold storage facilities. Operated by two professional cooks per shift, they can reportedly cater to up to 500 people at a time. The meals range from basic Indian staples to tailored dishes preferred by health-conscious crew members.
What's on the Menu?
- Traditional meals like dal, rice, aloo matar, and methi ki sabzi
- Health-based dishes including avocado sandwiches
- Fish curry and rice for non-vegetarian preferences
- Mutton biryani said to be Salman Khan’s personal favorite
- Hot beverages, including fresh coffee
The focus remains on cleanliness, nutrition, and inclusivity, with a balance between comfort food and healthy alternatives.
Beyond Film Shoots
Interestingly, the Being Haangry vans are not limited to film productions. They reportedly accompany Salman during outdoor shoots, philanthropic work, and promotional tours, extending their service wherever required. The actor continues to personally oversee menu aspects, ensuring consistency with what he himself consumes.
A Star Who Leads with Actions
Salman Khan’s initiative reflects his belief in equality and unity on set, showing that compassion does not need to be extravagant it just needs to be intentional. With Being Haangry, he has quietly reshaped the hospitality culture within the film industry.
For many in the unit, this is not just a meal it’s a morale booster.
