Shahid Kapoor and Rashmika Mandanna Reunite for Amit Sharma’s Next Romantic Comedy

Even before audiences get to witness Shahid Kapoor and Rashmika Mandanna’s much-talked-about chemistry in Cocktail 2, the popular on-screen pair is already set to collaborate once again.

According to an exclusive report by Variety India, Shahid and Rashmika will reunite for an upcoming untitled romantic comedy to be directed by Badhaai Ho and Maidaan filmmaker Amit Ravindernath Sharma.

The duo reportedly struck a strong professional bond during the shoot of Cocktail 2, making it an easy yes when they were approached for this new project. The film is expected to offer a fresh take on romance and comedy, with a more intimate, emotional and layered relationship distinct from the breezy, modern love story explored in Homi Adajania’s Cocktail 2.

The project will be produced by Sunir Kheterpal under The Vermilion World banner, in association with Jio Studios. Kheterpal’s previous credits include Badla, Rocky Handsome, Dobaaraa and Farrey. This film will mark his second collaboration with Shahid Kapoor after Ali Abbas Zafar’s Bloody Daddy.

The film also reunites producer Sunir Kheterpal with director Amit Sharma following their earlier collaboration, The Intern, which was shelved after the unfortunate demise of veteran actor Rishi Kapoor. The duo has reportedly been discussing multiple projects over the years and has now locked this rom-com as their next venture together.

As per Variety India, shooting for the film is expected to begin around August–September 2026, once both lead actors wrap up their existing commitments.

Shahid Kapoor is currently busy promoting Vishal Bhardwaj’s O’ Romeo, slated for a theatrical release on February 13. Post that, he will return as Sunny in the second season of Raj & DK’s Prime Video series Farzi, alongside Vijay Sethupathi, Kay Kay Menon, Raashi Khanna and Bhuvan Arora.

Rashmika Mandanna, meanwhile, has an equally packed slate ahead. After Cocktail 2, she will be seen opposite Vijay Deverakonda in the historical epic Ranabaali, scheduled for release on September 11, 2026. She also has Mysaa and Allu Arjun–Atlee’s ambitious action film #AA22xA6 in the pipeline. Additionally, the actress is reportedly set to tie the knot with Deverakonda later this month in a grand wedding ceremony.

With their second collaboration already locked, expectations are high for Shahid Kapoor and Rashmika Mandanna to deliver yet another memorable on-screen pairing.
