SpiderMan Brand New Day Stays Strong With 50 Crore Day 2, Crosses 100 Crore In 2 Days
SpiderMan Brand New Day continued its dream run at the Indian box office on Day 2. The film collected an estimated 50 crore on Friday, showing only a minimal drop from its record opening day. After starting with 62 crore on thursday, holding close to that number on the second day is a massive achievement. With this, the film has already crossed the 100 crore mark in just two days, making it one of the fastest Hollywood releases to do so in India.
The minimal fall is a big positive sign. Big tentpole films usually see a dip of 20 to 30 percent on the second day, but SpiderMan Brand New Day has managed to stay almost steady. Strong word of mouth and audience appreciation for the action and emotional beats have kept theaters packed. All language versions contributed well. The Hindi, English, Tamil and Telugu shows ran with high occupancy through the day. Premium formats like IMAX, 4DX and ICE also reported full houses, especially in metro cities.
With 100 crore plus already in two days, the film is now set for a huge extended weekend. Trade is expecting Saturday & Sunday to be bigger due to weekend footfall. At the current pace, SpiderMan Brand New Day will comfortably cross 200 crore in 4 days. That would put it among the top grossing Hollywood films ever in India and also make it the biggest SpiderMan film in the country by a huge margin.
This is an overall bumper start for the SpiderMan franchise at the Indian box office. Previous SpiderMan films did well, but none had this kind of opening and hold. The combination of brand value, 18K shows across the country, and positive audience feedback has worked perfectly. Multiplexes in Mumbai, Delhi NCR, Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Chennai were sold out, while single screens in UP, Bihar, Rajasthan and Central India also saw strong collections thanks to the Hindi dubbed version.
SpiderMan Brand New Day has given the required boost to the box office. A 62 crore opening followed by a 50 crore Saturday proves the demand for large scale superhero films is still very strong. If the film maintains well on Saturday and Sunday, it should not only cross 200 crore in the extended weekend but also challenge the lifetime records of the biggest MCU releases in India.
