Toxic collected 20 crore on Day 3 today on Friday in the Hindi circuit as per early estimates. The film opened with 10 percent occupancy in morning shows but picked up well in afternoon and evening due to Rakshabandhan holiday. Afternoon occupancy jumped to 35 percent and evening shows went up to 55 percent in mass circuits. This growth helped Toxic to reach 20 crore on Day 3. Single screens performed better than multiplexes today. Overall Day 3 occupancy was around 28 percent average for the day in Hindi belt.
Movie Gets Benefit Of Rakshabandhan Holiday In Indiawide
Movie got benefit of Rakshabandhan holiday Indiawide on Day 3, especially in North India. States like UP, Delhi, Punjab and Rajasthan showed big jump in afternoon due to holiday. Families came to watch Toxic after Rakhi celebrations. Without Rakshabandhan holiday, Day 3 collection would have been around 15 crore only. So holiday saved the film from further drop. Rakshabandhan effect was more visible in Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities. The film also got benefit in Maharashtra and Gujarat circuits where occupancy improved to 40 percent in evening.
20 Crore On Day 3 Is Good Hold But Not Enough For Big Budget Film Like Toxic
20 crore on Day 3 is good hold but it is not enough for big budget film like Toxic. Film was made with budget of over 300 crore and needs big daily collection to become hit. Day 1 was 54 crore, Day 2 was 22 crore, and now Day 3 is 20 crore. This shows downward trend after big opening. For a big budget film, Day 3 should have been 35 crore plus on Rakshabandhan and Saturday. 20 crore is decent but not big enough to recover huge budget quickly. Trade says film needs to collect at least 100 crore in weekend to stay in race.
Film Collects 95-96 Crore In Three Days In Hindi
Film has collected 95-96 crore in three days in Hindi circuit. Day 1 54 crore plus Day 2 22 crore plus Day 3 20 crore takes total to 96 crore approximately. So film is just short of 100 crore mark in Hindi in 3 days. This is still a very strong total, but momentum is slowing down. First two days total was 76 crore, so only 20 crore added on Day 3. At this pace, 100 crore will be crossed on Saturday morning. All India total is around 155 crore in three days including all languages. Worldwide total is near 210 crore.
Now All Depends On Saturday And Sunday Collection
Now all depends on Saturday and Sunday collection for Toxic box office future. If Saturday shows big jump to 30 crore and Sunday goes to 40 crore, then Hindi weekend will be around 165 crore which will be huge. But if Saturday remains at 22-23 crore, then weekend will be around 140 crore only. Saturday occupancy needs to open with 25 percent in morning and go to 70 percent in evening to hit 30 crore mark. Sunday will be crucial for lifetime collection. Trade is waiting for Saturday morning occupancy report to predict final weekend total for Toxic in Hindi.
