Alpha Opens Day 6 With 5 Percent Occupancy, Heads For 2.20 Crore Wednesday

Alpha Opens Day 6 With 5 Percent Occupancy, Heads For 2.20 Crore Wednesday

Alpha opened its sixth day with around 5 percent occupancy in morning shows today on Wednesday. The start was dull in both multiplexes and single screens. After the big drop on Monday, the film has failed to recover during weekdays and the trend remains poor. Trade estimates point to a collection of around 2.20 crore today, which is a weak number for a film of this scale.

The weekday performance has been the biggest concern for Alpha. The film saw a huge fall from Sunday to Monday and has not been able to stabilize since then. A 5 percent morning and a 2.20 crore day in the first week show that audience interest has cooled off quickly. Evening shows may add some numbers, but they are unlikely to change the overall picture for the day.

With this trend, Alpha is now heading toward a disaster run at the Indian box office. The budget and expectations were high, and the film needed strong weekdays to stay in the race. Instead, the back to back low days have made it difficult for the film to recover. The loss of momentum in week one will also impact the second weekend when new releases take more screens.

This also marks another setback for the spy universe after War 2. Alpha was expected to bring the franchise back on track, but the poor weekday hold has done the opposite. The 2.20 crore Wednesday underlines the struggle the film is facing. Unless there is an unexpected turnaround, Alpha looks set to end its run far below what was required for a film of this size.
