Bhooth Bangla records a strong Day 1 at the box office with ₹12.5 crore approx. Weekend growth and free run till May 1 could boost collections further !

The reunion of Akshay Kumar and Priyadarshan has managed to pull audiences to theatres, as Bhooth Bangla registers a solid opening at the box office. After a decent boost from paid previews on Thursday night, the horror-comedy has carried that momentum into Friday.

As per Cineinfinity’s early tracking, Bhooth Bangla has collected approximately ₹12.5 crore nett on its opening day. With final numbers yet to be locked, our estimates suggest that the producers’ official figure could be slightly higher, potentially in the ₹13.5–14 crore range, factoring in last-minute reporting and adjustments. 

The film has clearly opened better than initial expectations, especially considering it isn’t a franchise film and didn’t have chartbuster music driving pre-release hype. What’s working in its favour is the recall value of the Akshay–Priyadarshan combo and the family-friendly horror-comedy genre, which traditionally sees strong weekend traction.

Interestingly, the performance isn’t limited to national chains alone. Single screens and non-national multiplexes are also reporting encouraging occupancy, indicating broader audience appeal beyond metro cities. While the response from audiences is somewhat mixed, it is leaning positive enough to sustain momentum over the weekend. The real test, however, begins now.

Saturday and Sunday will be crucial in determining the film’s trajectory. With good advances already in place and family audiences expected to step in over the weekend, Bhooth Bangla has a strong chance to show significant growth.

Another major advantage for the film is its clear run at the box office until May 1, giving it ample time to stabilize and build on word of mouth. If it manages to hold well post-weekend, a healthy run towards the ₹100 crore mark cannot be ruled out.

For now, Bhooth Bangla has done what it needed to do deliver a good, confidence-boosting start. The next two days will decide whether it merely performs well… or turns into a genuine box office success.
