About Border 2

Border 2 is the official sequel to J. P. Dutta’s iconic 1997 blockbuster Border, which portrayed the historic Battle of Longewala during the 1971 Indo-Pak war. The sequel aims to carry forward the legacy of the original while expanding its scale, emotional weight, and military realism.

The film is based on the Battle of Basantar, one of the most crucial battles fought in the western sector of the 1971 Indo-Pakistani War. The victory secured key regions across Punjab and Jammu, marking a decisive moment in India’s military history.

Directed by Anurag Singh (Kesari), Border 2 is expected to blend large-scale battlefield realism with strong character-driven storytelling. The film stars Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, and Ahan Shetty, bringing together a mix of legacy presence and contemporary star power.

The project is being produced under J. P. Dutta’s banner, in association with major studio backing, ensuring high production values and a significantly expanded scale compared to the original.

Strong Advance Booking Momentum

Despite its lengthy runtime, Border 2 is already witnessing encouraging pre-release momentum. According to trade reports, the film has registered an all-India gross advance booking of ₹2.88 crore for Day 1, with 85,941 tickets sold across 8,629 shows nationwide.

The strong advance numbers underline solid audience interest and position Border 2 as one of the most awaited patriotic releases of the year.

With certification complete, strong advances in place, and release day fast approaching, Border 2 is gearing up for a grand nationwide rollout.
