Vicky Kaushal is set to make a powerful entry into the Dhurandhar universe. According to a report by mid-day, the actor will feature in an extended cameo in Dhurandhar 2, reprising his iconic role of Major Vihaan Shergill from Uri: The Surgical Strike (2019).

The development comes amid confirmation that Akshaye Khanna will not be returning as Rehman Dakait in a full-fledged role in the sequel. As previously reported, Akshaye’s presence in Dhurandhar 2 will be restricted to a few flashback sequences, marking a significant shift in narrative focus.

Vicky Kaushal Joins the Dhurandhar Universe

As per mid-day, Vicky Kaushal has already shot for his portions in Dhurandhar 2, completing his schedule before the release of the first part. His appearance is expected to add substantial weight to the sequel, which is led by Ranveer Singh and also stars R. Madhavan, Sanjay Dutt, and Arjun Rampal.

What makes the development particularly exciting is the crossover element. Vicky will reprise Major Vihaan Shergill, the character that earned him widespread acclaim in Aditya Dhar’s Uri. While Uri is set in 2016 and Dhurandhar operates on a different timeline, the director has reportedly smartly integrated the character into the sequel, expanding the cinematic universe.

A source quoted by mid-day revealed that Aditya Dhar has been intentionally tight-lipped about the additional star power in Dhurandhar 2. The source added that Vicky’s extended cameo will include multiple action sequences, although it remains unclear whether his character directly interacts with Ranveer Singh’s role in the film.

“Aditya Dhar plans to build the Dhurandhar universe, and the inclusion of Vihaan Shergill lays the groundwork for future spin-offs,” the source stated, hinting at larger franchise ambitions.

The report further mentions that Vicky Kaushal is one of Aditya Dhar’s favourite actors, and the director was keen to design sequences that could potentially serve as a launchpad for a standalone project in the future.

With Dhurandhar already establishing itself as a box office juggernaut, the addition of a beloved character from Uri significantly raises expectations for the sequel.
