Ek Din Day1 Box Office Update: Disastrous Opening
Ek Din has opened to a shockingly low 1Cr nett on Day 1. The Junaid Khan starrer is a huge disaster right from opening day. For Aamir Khan’s son, this marks another box office blow after his debut also failed to click. Trade expected a modest start, but 1Cr is below even worst-case projections. The writing is on the wall.
The film saw poor occupancy across India with negligible advances and no spot booking pickup. Multiplexes reported 8-10% occupancy, single screens were worse. Despite Aamir Khan’s brand backing the project, audiences showed zero interest. No buzz, no songs, no hook, Ek Din had nothing going for it pre-release. Reviews are poor and word-of-mouth is absent. A 1Cr Day 1 means recovery is impossible.
This is Junaid Khan’s second straight disaster in India. After a weak launch, Ek Din needed a strong theatrical push to build credibility. Instead, the 1Cr start confirms theatrical rejection. The weekend will be under 3Cr, and lifetime may struggle to cross 4Cr. For a star kid, two back-to-back disasters raise serious questions on script choice and audience acceptance. The Aamir Khan tag couldn’t save Day 1.
Ek Din is done at the box office already. The 1Cr Day 1 is a huge embarrassment given the lineage and backing. The film will wrap up as a disaster by Monday itself. For Junaid Khan, the road ahead looks tougher. Theatrical viability is in doubt. Another launch misfire for a star son. Ek Din is out in one day.
