Akshay Kumar Brings Back the Laughter With Anees Bazmee and Vidya Balan, Shoot Begins January 20. 

Akshay Kumar is all set to return to his strongest zone comedy and this time with two very familiar names. The actor is reportedly reuniting with director Anees Bazmee after a long gap of nearly fifteen years. Adding to the excitement, Vidya Balan will also be part of this untitled project, marking her reunion with Akshay after Bhool Bhulaiyaa.

According to our sources, the film is a full on comedy entertainer and will go on floors very soon. The makers are gearing up to begin filming from January 20 at Royal Gold Studios in Goregaon. Akshay Kumar will be the first to start shooting, while the rest of the cast including Vidya Balan is expected to join later.

Akshay has recently been reconnecting with filmmakers who gave him some of his most memorable films. After working again with Subhash Kapoor and Priyadarshan, this collaboration with Anees Bazmee feels like a deliberate move to bring back his classic comic charm. Their last film together was Thank You which released in 2011.

As per our sources, the upcoming film will be a typical Anees Bazmee style entertainer. It will feature fast paced storytelling, multiple characters, chaotic situations and plenty of confusion driven humor. The kind of comedy that audiences have loved for years and associate strongly with both Akshay Kumar and Anees Bazmee.

Interestingly, the film was initially planned to go on floors in February 2026. However, the schedule was advanced and the team is now ready to roll much earlier with Akshay leading the shoot from day one.

Earlier, Anees Bazmee had spoken openly about Akshay Kumar facing box office struggles in recent years. He described Akshay as a complete actor who can handle comedy, action, dance and emotional scenes with ease. According to him, every star goes through highs and lows and sometimes things do not click due to script choices or circumstances beyond control.

On the work front, Akshay Kumar has a packed lineup ahead. He will be seen in Priyadarshan Bhooth Bangla, Haiwaan alongside Saif Ali Khan and the big budget multi starrer Welcome to the Jungle. With this new comedy project also taking shape, fans are hopeful that Akshay comic timing will once again rule the big screen.

This reunion has already created strong buzz and if everything falls in place, audiences may soon witness the return of vintage Akshay Kumar comedy in full form.
