The A&M MoCap Lab, India's largest motion capture facility, has launched in Hyderabad, playing a crucial role in SS Rajamouli's Varanasi.

The A&M MoCap Lab, touted as India's largest and most advanced motion capture facility, has been launched at Annapurna Studios in Hyderabad. This state-of-the-art lab is a result of a partnership between Akkineni Nagarjuna's Annapurna Studios, Shobu Yarlagadda's Mihira Visual Labs, and Hollywood's Animatrik Film Design.

 

 

The facility has already played a crucial role in SS Rajamouli's upcoming Telugu film Varanasi, starring Mahesh Babu and Priyanka Chopra Jonas. Rajamouli utilized the MoCap technology to plan stunt sequences as part of pre-visualization work, showcasing the lab's capabilities. The lab is equipped with over 60 Vicon Valkyrie high-fidelity motion tracking cameras, Vicon Live for real-time data streaming, and Unreal Engine live preview.

The A&M MoCap Lab is expected to revolutionize Indian filmmaking by providing access to advanced motion capture technology. This facility will enable filmmakers to meticulously plan and refine their creative vision, reducing time and costs. The lab's capabilities include facial capture, allowing for more realistic character expressions.

Rajamouli praised the facility, stating that it bridges the gap between Indian filmmakers and global standards. He recalled how having access to such technology would have enhanced his previous films, including Baahubali and Eega. The lab's launch marks a significant milestone in India's creative and technological evolution.

The A&M MoCap Lab is set to position Hyderabad as a global hub for advanced film technology and high-end VFX production. With this facility, Indian filmmakers can now bring epic adventures and intricate science fiction dramas to life with precision and efficiency.
