Varun Dhawan In Talks To Lead Operation Sindoor Under Vivek Agnihotri?

Varun Dhawan is reportedly in discussions to headline Operation Sindoor, the next ambitious project from filmmaker Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri, backed by producer Bhushan Kumar.

The film, officially announced recently, is inspired by the book Operation Sindoor: The Untold Story of India’s Deep Strikes Inside Pakistan by K. J. S. Dhillon. It aims to present a gripping and realistic cinematic portrayal of one of India’s most strategic and high-risk military operations.

According to a report by Bollywood Hungama, Varun Dhawan has been approached for the lead role and has shown initial interest in the subject.

A source close to the development revealed,
“Varun has been offered Operation Sindoor, and the actor has shown his interest in playing the lead. Bhushan Kumar and Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri went to Varun with the lead protagonist role, and he is expected to hear the full narration soon before taking a final call.”

The report further suggests that Varun had taken a brief break to spend time with his daughter, Lara, but is now ready to return to work and actively exploring new projects.

“He is gearing up for the release of Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai on May 22 and is looking to start a new film by July. He is currently meeting writers and directors and is expected to lock his next project soon,” the source added.

Varun Dhawan’s recent success with Border 2 has reportedly strengthened his position in the patriotic and war drama genre, leading to multiple similar offers. However, the actor is said to be taking a cautious approach, selecting projects that align with his evolving filmography.

Meanwhile, Varun will next be seen in Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai, alongside Mrunal Thakur and Pooja Hegde. The film is scheduled to release on May 22.
