Will De De Pyaar De 2 Match the Charm and Success of Its Predecessor? Early Advances Indicate a Slow Start

Ajay Devgn’s De De Pyaar De 2 the much-awaited sequel to the 2019 romantic comedy hit  has opened to a rather lukewarm response in advance bookings. As of 11 AM on Thursday (November 13), the film has managed to sell around 12,000 tickets across national chains, which is below expectations for a major franchise featuring a bankable star like Ajay Devgn.

The original De De Pyaar De (2019) stood out for its refreshing concept, sharp writing, and effortless chemistry between Ajay Devgn, Tabu, and Rakul Preet Singh. It was supported by a chartbuster music album that included hits like Chale Aana and Vaddi Sharaban, which played a significant role in boosting its pre-release hype and recall value.

However, the music of De De Pyaar De 2 hasn’t created the same impact. None of the songs have managed to strike a chord with listeners or gain significant traction online, which has certainly affected the overall buzz around the film. In today’s landscape, where music often drives a movie’s reach, this has turned out to be a noticeable shortcoming.

Adding to that, the absence of Tabu, whose performance added emotional depth and maturity to the first film, has left many fans feeling that something essential is missing this time around. While R. Madhavan joins the cast and brings a fresh dynamic, early reactions to the trailer suggested that the humor and dialogue writing may not be as sharp as in the original.

Despite these challenges, De De Pyaar De 2 still enjoys a solo release window, which could work in its favor. The film’s family-friendly tone and Ajay Devgn’s consistent box office pull might help it gain traction if the word-of-mouth is positive after release.

But for now, with slow advances, lack of chartbuster music, and mixed pre-release chatter, the film faces an uphill task in matching the charm, freshness, and success of its predecessor. The coming weekend will be crucial in determining whether De De Pyaar De 2 can turn things around and prove that love  and franchises truly deserve a second chance.
