Yash Shoots As Ravana For Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana In Mumbai; Grand Sita Swayamvar Filmed On Massive Mithila Set
Yash is currently shooting Ravana’s portions for Nitesh Tiwari’s magnum opus Ramayana in Mumbai. The KGF star has joined the ongoing schedule and is filming key sequences of the Lanka king at a specially constructed set. With Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram and Sai Pallavi as Sita already on board, Yash’s entry as Ravana marks a major phase for the mythological epic.
As per a report in Mid-Day, the team recently wrapped Sita’s grand swayamvar sequence on a massive Mithila set erected in Mumbai. The set, spanning several acres, recreated the royal court of King Janaka with intricate detailing for the iconic bow-lifting scene. Hundreds of junior artists were used to film the sequence, which is said to be one of the film’s biggest highlights. Sources say Nitesh Tiwari is mounting the swayamvar on an unprecedented scale to match the grandeur of the epic.
Yash’s look as Ravana is being kept tightly under wraps, with the makers enforcing a strict no-phone policy on set. The actor is undergoing a separate prep schedule for his portions, focusing on body language and dialogue delivery for the powerful antagonist. Ramayana marks Yash’s first major Hindi film after KGF Chapter 2, and his casting as Ravana has already created huge pan-India buzz. The Mumbai schedule will cover Ravana’s early arc before the unit moves to Lonavala for forest sequences.
Mounted by producer Namit Malhotra, Ramayana is planned as a two-part saga with cutting-edge VFX. With Ranbir, Yash, and Sai Pallavi headlining, the film is easily the biggest Indian production currently on floors. The swayamvar sequence shot in Mumbai sets the tone for the scale Nitesh Tiwari is aiming for. Ramayana Part 1 is targeting a Diwali 2027 release, and Yash’s Ravana is expected to be a major theatrical draw.
