Ranveer Singh Teams Up With Jai Mehta for Ambitious Zombie Thriller ‘Pralay’
After dominating screens with larger-than-life performances, Ranveer Singh is now set to explore a completely new cinematic territory with the upcoming film Pralay - a post-apocalyptic zombie survival thriller that aims to push the boundaries of Indian cinema.
The film will be directed by Jai Mehta, the son of acclaimed filmmaker Hansal Mehta. Known for his grounded storytelling, Hansal Mehta’s legacy now extends into an ambitious genre project that promises something rarely attempted in India.
A Zombie Film Unlike Anything Seen Before
Pralay is being described as a large-scale post-apocalyptic survival thriller set in a world ravaged by a mysterious zombie outbreak. While zombie films have been hugely popular in international cinema, the genre has rarely been explored on such a scale in India.
Director Jai Mehta has remained tight-lipped about the film’s story and characters but has strongly hinted at its groundbreaking scope.
Speaking about the project, Mehta emphasized the film’s unique ambition, saying it will be “the kind of film that India hasn’t made yet.. the kind of film that India hasn’t seen before.”
The film is being co-produced by Applause Entertainment along with Ranveer Singh’s own production banner Maa Kasam Films. The collaboration signals a significant investment in scale, production value, and international-level filmmaking standards. To bring this ambitious vision to life, the makers are assembling an international crew with extensive experience in large-scale genre filmmaking, suggesting that Pralay will rely heavily on cutting-edge visual effects, action choreography, and world-building.
The film is currently in the pre-production phase, with the team planning to begin shooting later this year.
