Golmaal 5 Shoot on Hold: Security Scare Forces Police Clearance Pends

Rohit Shetty's highly anticipated comedy sequel Golmaal 5 was slated to roll after February 15 in Mumbai, but a recent firing incident outside his Juhu residence has thrown the schedule into uncertainty. The attack, which saw four bullets fired in the early hours of Sunday, prompted a massive police deployment and a forensic sweep of the area, With the investigation ongoing, the film's start date now hinges on Shetty's own decision and official police clearance.

The production team had already planned a two-tier security ring for the shoot the first layer involving local police, the second comprising Shetty's personal bodyguards. An access-controlled zone was to be created on set, with all crew, junior artists, vendors, and even daily-wage workers pre-registered and ID-verified. No spot entries would be allowed, and all equipment trucks and vanity vans were to be logged in advance .

These measures were designed to keep the director safe while filming in Film City, Mumbai, where a café, police station, and palatial residence set were already under construction.

The incident has also impacted Shetty's other project, the Rakesh Maria biopic starring John Abraham, which was being shot in South Mumbai until mid-January. That film is now on a two-week pause, with the remaining schedule under review pending police advice. The Golmaal 5 team is reportedly still on track to begin in late February, but the final call will be made after the police assess the security situation and give the green light.

Fans are eager to see the original ensemble Ajay Devgn, Arshad Warsi, Tusshar Kapoor, Shreyas Talpade, and Kunal Kemmu back on screen, along with a new female antagonist. The franchise's signature chaos is expected to get a fresh twist with fantasy elements, but all eyes are now on how the security concerns resolve.
