Ram Gopal Varma Confirms ‘Sarkar 4’: Amitabh Bachchan and Abhishek Bachchan to Return

Filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma has officially confirmed that the fourth installment of the Sarkar franchise is in the works. Nearly nine years after the last film in the series, the director revealed that Sarkar 4 is ready to go on floors soon.

In a recent conversation, Varma shared that the writing for the film has already been completed and the production will begin in mid-2026.

Amitabh Bachchan and Abhishek Bachchan to Return

The Sarkar franchise has always been closely associated with the powerful on-screen presence of Amitabh Bachchan and Abhishek Bachchan. When asked whether the father-son duo would reprise their roles in the upcoming installment, Ram Gopal Varma confirmed their return.

According to the director, both Amitabh Bachchan and Abhishek Bachchan will once again be part of the film, continuing their iconic characters that have defined the series since its inception.

A Look Back at the Sarkar Franchise

The Sarkar series began with Sarkar in 2005, followed by Sarkar Raj in 2008 and Sarkar 3 in 2017. While the Bachchan duo remained a constant throughout the franchise, each installment featured a different supporting cast and storyline.

Over the years, the films have built a strong cult following for their intense storytelling and political drama.

Production Plans and Future Projects

Although Varma has not yet revealed additional cast members for Sarkar 4, he stated that he plans to wrap up the film’s shoot within the year once production begins.

After completing Sarkar 4, the director will move on to his previously announced thriller Syndicate, which is currently in the casting stage.

With Amitabh and Abhishek Bachchan returning to the franchise, Sarkar 4 is already generating strong buzz among fans eager to see the iconic political crime drama back on the big screen.
