Salman Khan, Ajay Devgn, Varun Dhawan Extend Support to Rajpal Yadav Amid Financial Case

Actor Rajpal Yadav has received strong backing from the Hindi film industry as he faces a long-running cheque bounce and loan default case linked to his 2010 film Ata Pata Laapata. The matter, involving unpaid dues amounting to nearly ₹9 crore, resurfaced recently after the actor surrendered at Tihar Jail following the dismissal of his final plea by the Delhi High Court.

The controversy dates back to the commercial failure of Ata Pata Laapata, after which financial liabilities reportedly mounted. Rajpal Yadav found himself in the spotlight again earlier this month when legal proceedings culminated in his surrender on February 5.

Amid these developments, several members of the film fraternity have come forward to support the actor. In an interaction with SCREEN, Rajpal Yadav’s manager Goldie revealed that prominent names including Salman Khan, Ajay Devgn, Varun Dhawan, Sonu Sood, Gurmeet Choudhary, Anees Bazmee, and David Dhawan have reached out to offer help.

“A lot of people have reached out to help Rajpal Yadav. Actors like Sonu Sood, Salman Khan, and Ajay Devgn have extended their support. I was just on a call with David Dhawan—he too reached out. Ratan Nain, Varun Dhawan… many people are coming forward to help him this time, which Rajpal has deeply appreciated,” Goldie shared.

Goldie further added that the industry has stood firmly behind Rajpal Yadav during this difficult phase, though he clarified that financial arrangements take time and cannot be completed overnight.

The manager also expressed hope regarding the actor’s release, stating that a bail hearing is scheduled for February 12, and the bail application has already been filed.

“We are hopeful that he will be granted bail and released. We will be able to share more details after the hearing,” he said.

In addition to support from industry colleagues, music director Rao Inderjeet Yadav has publicly committed ₹1.11 crore towards assistance, while politician Tej Pratap Yadav has pledged ₹11 lakh. Filmmaker and commentator KRK also stated that he would contribute ₹10 lakh.

As the legal process continues, the overwhelming show of solidarity from the film fraternity highlights the respect Rajpal Yadav commands within the industry, even amid personal and financial adversity.
