‘Ramayana’ Begins Grandly: Ranbir Kapoor’s First Glimpse as Lord Rama Leaves a Lasting Impact, Yash’s Ravana Adds Power

On the auspicious occasion of Hanuman Jayanti (April 2, 2026), the makers of Ramayana, directed by Nitesh Tiwari, unveiled the much-awaited first glimpse of Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama, instantly heightening anticipation around the film.

The glimpse opens with sweeping, panoramic visuals of a battlefield, setting the tone for the epic scale of the film. It then transitions to a striking shot of Rama standing against the rising sun, followed by moments of him walking gracefully as people shower flower petals. Ranbir Kapoor’s look is finally revealed adorned in golden ornaments, carrying a serene expression and a subtle smile that captures the essence of the character. The visuals promise a grand, immersive cinematic experience rooted in mythology.

Towards the end, the teaser offers a glimpse of Yash as Ravana, seen walking towards his massive Pushpak Vimana, adding intrigue and intensity to the narrative.

Sharing the glimpse, the makers described Rama as “the greatest of all time,” emphasizing how his life was defined by choices rooted in duty over desire and sacrifice over self. They highlighted that his legacy continues to inspire humanity and reinforce faith in goodness and peace.

Speaking about the role, Ranbir Kapoor said, “I don’t think I’m here to represent Rama. I’m here to learn from him. There is a simplicity and purity to him that is very rare, and trying to understand and imbibe that has been a deeply humbling experience.”

Director Nitesh Tiwari added, “Ramayana’s greatness lies in its emotional richness. At its heart, it is not just about good and evil, but about choices, consequences, and the weight of doing what is right. Rama’s journey is deeply human, and that is what we have tried to stay true to.”

The film features music by AR Rahman and Hans Zimmer, with lyrics by Kumar Vishwas, and is written by Sridhar Raghavan. The cast includes Sai Pallavi, Yash, Sunny Deol, and Ravi Dubey in pivotal roles.

Produced by Namit Malhotra’s Prime Focus Studios along with DNEG and Yash’s Monster Mind Creations, Ramayana is set to release its first part in theatres on Diwali 2026, followed by the second part in 2027.

With its first glimpse, Ramayana has already established itself as one of the most ambitious and visually grand projects in Indian cinema.
