De De Pyaar De 2 Movie Review: – A Warm, Witty Sequel with a Fresh Emotional Core

Movie Review: De De Pyaar De 2 – A Warm, Witty Sequel with a Fresh Emotional Core (Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐)

De De Pyaar De 2 picks up after the events of the first film, and right from the opening scenes, it pulls you back into the unconventional love story of Aashish Mehra (Ajay Devgn), a man in his fifties who continues to stand by his relationship with the much younger Ayesha (Rakul Preet Singh). This time, the challenge isn’t between Aashish’s past and present it’s about securing a future. And that means facing Ayesha’s parents.

The storyline takes off when Aashish travels with Ayesha to meet her family. Her parents, played by R. Madhavan and Gautami Kapoor, initially appear progressive and open-minded. But their “modern parenting” cracks almost instantly once they meet Aashish and realise he’s practically their contemporary. What follows is an awkward, hilarious, and ego-driven clash between Aashish and Ayesha’s father, Rajji (Madhavan), who cannot digest the idea of his daughter marrying someone nearly his age.

To complicate things, Ayesha’s parents bring in a charming, age-appropriate suitor, played by Meezaan Jafri, hoping to gently steer their daughter away from Aashish. This sets off a series of comedic confrontations, emotional arguments, and subtle family politics. Beneath the laughs, the film digs into deeper themes—ageism, insecurity, acceptance, and the complex dynamics of modern relationships.

The humour works well because it feels organic. The writing is sharp, dialogues are witty, and the awkwardness between Aashish and Rajji leads to some of the film’s most entertaining moments. Ajay Devgn brings his familiar deadpan charm, but it’s R. Madhavan who steals the show. His performance is layered—funny in places, deeply emotional in others—and he elevates every scene he’s a part of. Rakul Preet Singh also gets more emotional depth this time, convincingly portraying a woman caught between the man she loves and the family she cannot dismiss. Meezaan Jafri is a pleasant surprise, adding freshness and likeability to his character.

Overall, De De Pyaar De 2 delivers what it promises a feel-good entertainer that blends humour with heart. It doesn’t try to reinvent the rom-com genre, but it adds enough freshness thanks to Madhavan’s standout act and the film’s honest take on relationships. It leaves you with laughter, a gentle emotional tug, and the reminder that love doesn’t always follow society’s script sometimes, it simply follows the heart.

Final Verdict:
With its wholesome entertainment value, engaging performances, and breezy humour, De De Pyaar De 2 earns a solid ⭐⭐⭐⭐ (4/5).
A warm, witty, and family-friendly sequel that’s absolutely worth a watch.
