FWICE Withdraws Non-Cooperation Directive Against Ranveer Singh Following Industry Mediation
The Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) has officially withdrawn its non-cooperation directive against actor Ranveer Singh with immediate effect, bringing an end to the recent industry controversy surrounding his reported exit from Don 3.
The decision comes after mediation efforts by the Producers Guild of India and Cine and TV Artistes' Association, which facilitated discussions between the parties involved. FWICE confirmed that the directive has been revoked and announced plans to hold a joint roundtable meeting with key industry stakeholders to address similar disputes in the future.
The controversy began after reports emerged that Ranveer Singh had stepped away from Don 3, leading filmmaker Farhan Akhtar and producer Ritesh Sidhwani to raise concerns regarding the impact of last-minute exits on film productions. FWICE subsequently issued a non-cooperation directive against the actor, urging its affiliated members not to work with him until the matter was resolved.
In recent days, the dispute intensified after Ranveer Singh reportedly served a legal notice to FWICE, challenging the directive and its implications. The matter had also sparked wider debate within the film industry regarding accountability, contractual commitments, and the authority of industry bodies in handling such disputes.
Announcing the withdrawal, FWICE leadership emphasized that the resolution should not be viewed as a victory or defeat for any individual or organization. Instead, the federation stated that the focus remains on maintaining harmony within the industry and creating a framework to prevent similar conflicts in the future.
With the directive now withdrawn, attention is expected to shift toward the proposed roundtable discussions, where industry representatives will explore measures aimed at ensuring greater clarity and accountability in professional commitments while safeguarding the interests of all stakeholders involved in film production.
